Review: Skinfood Vita Color Lipsticks: OR02 Grapefruit Toktok & PK03 Sakura Peach

If any of you know me, you'd know that I'm not a big fan of lip colors, mostly because I have super pigmented lips and anything that isn't a moisturizing balm isn't really my style. This year though, I thought that I'd branch out and test out color. I picked out these lip sticks from Skinfood mainly because they're advertised as being glossy, plus the packaging is super freaking adorable, and totally up my alley!

You can find these lip sticks here for around $11. The two that I'll be reviewing today are OR02 Grapefruit Toktok and PK03 Sakura Peach :)

I'm trying out this new watermark thing, but honestly, I'm not digging it. I definitely won't be using them in the future, haha :(

The packaging of these glossy lipsticks is seriously genius. The type on the cap of the lipstick states the color name and code while also reinstating its Vita Color branding. The font color also reflects the bullet color. The top of it is also transparent so if the font color wasn't a big enough give-off as to what color you're reaching for, then that's always an option hahah :)

The application of these lipsticks is definitely glossy, and no where near matte. It definitely has me questioning whether they'll stay put or end up being halfway across my cheek though, haha. Kidding! (They'd definitely wear off before that would happen...) I find that the specific way you apply these lipsticks will determine how they feel on your lips. Applying it by swiping it across your lips like a normal balm or by dabbing will both offer smooth and I guess, a 'slippery' feeling, but dabbing will dry out your lips while swiping won't. The dry feeling of dabbing remind me of the Tony Moly Bunny Gloss bars in this sense. I personally dab the color on- just because I'm not used to anything that isn't my natural lip color! I also notice that they do tend to stick or sink into cracks so I'd definitely recommend either moisturizing your lips or using a lip scrub prior to application. Color and shine distribution can also be a bit blotchy, so I guess smacking your lips does come in handy!

Swatched once

I find that the pigmentation of these beauties to be perfect. They offer a subtle to medium amount of color upon swatching once, but are definitely buildable! OR02 Grapefruit Toktok is a beautiful orange that is more striking than PK03 Sakura Peach, which I find to be a cooler toned pink (well, on my lips at least). I think I prefer OR02 just because it doesn't make my lips as nude as PK03 does.

Swatched twice
The wear time of these lip sticks are similar to non-sticky lip glosses. They'll stay for an adequate amount of time if you don't eat or drink, but will naturally fade away since they're smooth and don't have that extra stick that allow them to adhere to your lips for a longer period of time. Personally, I don't mind this, because there isn't anything more annoying than getting your hair caught in your lip product!

In general, I do enjoy these lipsticks. They offer a slight tint to my highly pigmented lips while slightly moisturizing them at the same time. I'm not blown away, but I'm not disappointed either. Hopefully with my new found interest in lip colors, I'll delve into more products and will be sharing some new ones with you soon!

Thanks for reading! Until next time!
